Scott Evans - Band Leader, Trumpet, Keys, Sax

Scott started playing piano at the age of 8 and quickly moved to trumpet at age 10.  It was playing trumpet in high school where he gained an appreciation for jazz.  He attended Drury University on an academic and music scholarship and pursued two of the things he loved most, business and music.  He attained a bachelors degree in business administration all the while playing lead trumpet, all four years, in the Jazz and Wind Ensembles.  He participated in and worked for the renowned Widner Band Camps during the summer and was fortunate to play with the likes of Marvin Stamm, Mike Stinel, Roger Ingram and others.

While attending Drury University Scott co-founded the 10 piece Christian jazz-funk band Nighsounds.  Nightsounds played weekly at Midnight, a young adult meeting at High Street Baptist Church.  Later Nightsounds went on to open for groups such as Rick Cua, Leon Patillo,  and Harvest.  They were also the featured band on the local television talk show Teen Net.

After Nightsounds Scott went on to play for and manage another Christian band Soul What.  Soul What was hired to play for the Assembly Of God Regional Youth Pastors meeting and received some airtime on a local christion radio station.

Scott is now active in the music ministry at High Street Baptist Church where he plays, writes and arranges music and helps oversee the praise band.  He also plays lead in the local swing group, Queen City Dance Band.
